English for Speakers of Other Languages - ESOL
-
Little Rock School District's English-For-Speakers of-Other-Languages (ESOL) program is a research-based alternative language learning model that supports the affective, linguistic and cognitive needs of students with limited English proficiency.
LRSD and the ESOL team aim to provide appropriate placement along with high quality instructional and other related services that allow students identified as English Learners (ELs) to participate meaningfully and authentically in the mainstream educational program as quickly as possible.
Additionally, we are committed to providing students with the cultural literacy necessary for them to feel comfortable in participating in the school and broader community.
Our vision is that ELs will develop fluent proficiency in English language skills across the four language domains (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) while participating in a rigorous academic program that will prepare them and enable them to become college and career ready.
