Central prepares for 50th anniversary celebration
Staff at Central High School are making final preparations for the historic 50th anniversary observance of the desegregation of this landmark school. The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 25, which marks 50 years to the day when nine African-American students, who became known to the world as the Little Rock Nine, integrated Central High School. All nine will be in attendance at the ceremony on Tuesday.
Tickets are no longer available for the event. The ceremony will be broadcast live on LRSD-TV, Comcast Cable Channel 4, and other local television channels.
