New Social Distancing Guidelines Recommended by State

Attention LRSD Parents and Staff:

The Little Rock School District continues to monitor COVID-related health information, and subsequently learned today that new guidelines are being recommended regarding social distancing.  During his weekly COVID briefing today, Governor Asa Hutchinson shared the update listed below from the Arkansas Departments of Health and Education, effective Wednesday, October 20, 2021:

•    The definition of “close contact” in a school setting has changed from within
     6-feet for 15-minutes to within 3-feet for 15-minutes.
•    Vaccination eliminates the need for quarantine.
•    If both the case and the contact are properly masked, there is no need for
     quarantine.

While there is a 3-foot rule, LRSD will do everything it can to keep as much social distance between students/staff as possible.  LRSD will also continue to follow its mask protocol, which will be reviewed during the October 28th Board meeting. The public is invited to share input at that time. The District remains committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all students and staff, and appreciates the community’s continued support.
