Hamilton Learning Academy (HLA) will communicate with parents in the following ways to increase parent involvement and to support classroom instruction:
- Producing and distributing a quarterly newsletter which includes school news,
- Producing and distributing a calendar of school activities
- Producing and distributing a handout for parenting tips related to school achievement such as homework tips, organizational skills, and study skills.
- Parents can access their child’s grades and attendance on Edline using the PIN number received at the beginning of the school year or at the placement meeting. Parents will also receive quarterly report cards. Parents may use e-mail to communicate with members of the school staff. Teachers will keep parents informed about their child’s progress by holding conferences individually with parents to discuss the student’s test scores and the interventions teachers are using to assist their child in reaching achievement goals. Parents will also be given suggestions for coordinating school-parent efforts and explanations of homework and grading procedures. Contact any teacher or counselor at 501-447-3400.
- The school will provide a list of volunteer opportunities and solicit ideas for other types of volunteer efforts during orientation of parents. Administrators will explain the requirements to parents during placement meetings and encourage them to become involved in the school. The school will work with students’ home schools to help provide a smooth transition from one school to the next by holding exit conferences to raise parent awareness of procedures, expectations and related activities. Further information regarding volunteer opportunities can be obtained from the HLA VIPs Coordinator, Neva Johnson, telephone number 501-447-3459.
