2020-2021 UNIFORM POLICY

  • Dress Code 

    Pants and Shorts

    Uniform style pants and slacks must be solid navy blue. Shorts should be no more than 2 inches above or below the knee. Logos, trim, and designs are not allowed. Denim, jeggings, and leggings are also not allowed.  (Leggings can only be worn under jumpers, skirts, or dresses.)  Pants/shorts should be clean and without holes or tears. 

    Shirts

    Uniform style shirts must be solid red, white or navy blue and should be cotton knit. Shirts must have a collar or turtle neck.  Logos, piping or trim are not allowed. All buttons must be buttoned with the exception of the top button, and shirts must be tucked in at all times. Undershirts must be solid red, white, or navy. 

    Skorts, Skirts and Jumpers

    Uniform style skorts, skirts and jumpers may be solid navy or Williams Magnet plaid; they must be no more than 2 inches above or below the knee. If jumpers are sleeveless, they must be worn with a solid white, red or navy blue collared shirt.  Denim is not allowed. Shorts, tights or leggings (NO ruffles or lace) must be worn under skirts and jumpers and be solid navy, red, or white.  Tights or leggings length must be to ankle. 

    Shoes and Socks

    Acceptable shoes include sneakers and rubber-soled shoes with closed heels and toes. Students may wear rain boots on rainy days. Sandals, shoes with electronic capabilities (lights/speakers), high heels, flip flops, heelys, and crocs are not allowed. (High-top tennis shoes are acceptable.)  Socks, leggings, and tights must be solid red, white, or navy and absent of logos or stripes.  Tights or leggings must be to the ankle. 

    Accessories

    A belt must be worn if there are belt loops on pants, shorts, skirts, or skorts. Belts must be solid in color.  Sweaters, sweatshirts, or hoodies may be worn inside the classroom if they are solid red, navy blue, or white with no commercial logos.  These items must be worn over a navy blue, red, or white collared shirt or turtleneck.   Headbands and bows should follow the LRSD policy.  LRSD policy will be enforced if accessories disrupt the learning process.  Caps, visors, sunglasses, etc. should be left at home.  Jewelry must be discreet and not disruptive to the learning process. 

    Outerwear

    Coats and jackets cannot be worn in the classroom or hallway.  Sweaters, sweatshirts, or hoodies may be worn inside the classroom if they are solid red, navy blue, or white with no commercial logos. 

    Williams Magnet Logo Clothing

    Williams Magnet logo PE shirts, spirit shirts, red sweatshirts and navy hooded sweatshirts are available for purchase from The Toggery. Spirit shirts may be worn only on Fridays  and only with uniform school bottoms.  Spirit shirts are sold by the PTA at designated times and may be worn only on Fridays. 

    PE Uniforms

    Students should wear uniform shorts or pants, uniform shirts and rubber-soled sports shoes on the day they have PE class.  All students must wear shoes appropriate for PE class such as tennis shoes.  Girls should not wear dresses or skirts the day of PE. 

    Spirit Fridays

    Fridays are designated as Spirit Days. Students may wear a school spirit shirt or field day shirt with their uniform bottoms. 

    Casual for Cause Days

    Only students participating in the Casual for a Cause theme may wear jeans, sweat pants, dresses, or the designated theme for the cause.  Casual days will be in compliance with the LRSD dress code policy.  Spaghetti straps, tank tops, and bare sholders are not allowed.  Clothing should not have offensive graphics or words.  Shoes should be appropriate for the school playground.  Flip flops, open-toe shoes, high heels, and sandals are not allowed.  Casual for Cause Days will be announced. 

    Dress Code Violations

    Violation of the dress code may result in the parent being called and required to bring approved uniform clothing to school.  Parents will receive written notification and must sign and return this document.  Continued Dress Code Violations may result in discipline sanctions and exclusion from incentives.
