Coach:

Dunbar Drill and Cheer Teams are comprised of 7th and 8th grade girls who cheer and perform at sporting events and school events.  6th and 7th grade girls are required to try out in the spring in order to be a member of the squad the following school year, Parents must attend a mandatory parent meeting to find out information about tryouts (students will need to listen to the announcements to see when the meeting will be held).  A parental consent form and physical is required; it is suggested that a physical be obtained by March.

Drill and Cheer Teams practice every Monday and Thursday 4:00pm - 6:30pm during Football Season, and every Tuesday and Wednesday 4:00pm - 5:45pm during Basketball Season. We do not have Take Home Buses for Practice or Games. Drill and Cheer Teams attend all football and basketball games, and performs at home games during the halftime of the Varsity Games. The girls also participate in various school and community events such as 6th Grade Orientation, Open House, parent involvement nights, Dunbar Festival, etc..

Drill and Cheer teams are a commitment the students and parents make for a year. The students on the squad must have outstanding grades and present themselves as role models for Dunbar Magnet Middle School. They are expected to have exemplary behavior and follow all school rules. They are representatives of the School and should conduct themselves accordingly at All Times. There is also a financial commitment to Drill and Cheer, the students and parents are responsible for paying for spirit items. This includes the following items.

  • Jacket with Logo and Name
  • Pants
• Shoes
• Socks (2 pair)
• Spanx or Bloomer (2 pair)
• Bows (2 bows)
• Pom Poms
• Bag (with name on it)
