Who Can Participate?
The Pre-Educator pathway is available only to LRSD juniors and seniors. The Pre-Educator pathway requires college-level coursework. To enroll in the Pre-Educator pathway, students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and a 19 ACT Reading score or 253 Accuplacer Next Gen Reading score. What if I haven't yet taken the ACT?
Students should contact their high school Career Coach to schedule an Accuplacer Next Gen exam. Students must take all three subsections (Reading, Writing, and Math) and submit scores on all three subsections; however, only the minimum 253 Reading score is required for enrollment. Students should take the Accuplacer exam in the Spring semester of their sophomore year to qualify to enroll in the Pre-Educator pathway. Test scores should be emailed to the Metro Counselor, Demetria McCollum [demetria.mccollum@lrsd.org].How much does it cost?
There is no cost to students. The concurrent credit tuition and fees is funded through the AR Concurrent Challenge Scholarship, which pays up to $125 per course for up to two college courses per semester. How do I enroll?
Students should talk to their high school counselor during the course selection process. Counselors will verify students have qualifying GPA and test scores and will enroll students in the courses to start the Pre-Educator pathway.Do you have a one-pager with info?
