• Practical Nursing ProgramInternship Overview

The internship component of the Practical Nursing program immerses students in a hospital setting, allowing them to test-drive careers in the medical field. Students will explore various career paths in nursing and confirm their interest and commitment to a career in nursing. Additionally, students gain valuable transferable skills like being in attendance and on-time, interacting with other adults in a professional manner, and practicing clear communication.

    Paid Internship
Through the Summer Youth Employment programs of the City of Little Rock and Pulaski County Youth Services Workforce Program, students will have the opportunity to receive wages for the internship. More specific information about earnings and scheduling will be released in the Spring.

    Early College Courses
Part of the Summer Internship will include taking early college dual enrollment courses that are required components of the Baptist Health College Little Rock Practical Nursing program. This means students will receive both college and high school credit for the courses. These courses will be taught by a qualified LRSD science instructor, and students will receive college credit through ASU Three Rivers.

    Summer Internship I
During the first summer internship, students will take Anatomy and Physiology I. Students will receive [4.0] college credits, and [1.0] high school credit, which can count as a third science Smart Core requirement.
